HARBOR BRANCH OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTION PRESENTS AN EVENING WITH CLYDE BUTCHER AND ELAM STOLTZFUS
On Wed., Dec. 7, at 7:00 p.m., Harbor Branch will present an evening with world-renowned Florida
photographic artist Clyde Butcher and filmmaker Elam Stoltzfus. The pair will discuss their work
and inspiration as well as their recent collaborative project to produce the award-winning film
Living Waters: Aquatic Preserves of Florida. This documentary takes viewers on a visual tour of
12 of the state's "liquid parks", such as the Rainbow River, and Apalachicola Bay, and features
a segment on Harbor Branch Indian River Lagoon education programs. It uses stunning cinematography
and black & white photography as well as personal accounts from those who live, work and enjoy the
preserves, to reveal the beauty of these natural wonders.
The event will be held at the Johnson Education Center on the Harbor Branch main campus at 5600
U.S. 1 North. A showing of the film, a reception with Butcher photographs on display, and book
signing and raffle will follow the talk. Tickets are $4.00 in advance, $5.00 at the door, and
can be purchased by calling 772-465-2400 ext. 559 or ext. 506. Tickets will also be on sale at
other Harbor Branch events and at the Harbor Branch booth at the Vero Beach Book Festival
(Nov. 11 and 12).
Please direct press inquiries, including interview and material requests, to Mark Schrope at
772-216-0390 or schrope@hboi.edu. Public questions about
the talk should be directed to the
Marine Education Office at 772-465-2400 ext. 506 or education@hboi.edu.
