K-12 PROGRAMS - FACILITIES

The Johnson Education Center houses three modern, well equipped, and flexible working laboratories for its camps, programs, and visiting groups.

The Wet Lab (accommodates 12-18 students)
• Seawater, freshwater, compressed air, vacuum, propane, and nitrogen lines are available
• Self contained 3,000 gallon re-circulating seawater system
• 10 -30 gallon freestanding aquaria
• Field Collecting Equipment
• Refrigerator, ice machine

The Biology Lab (accommodates 8-12 students)
• Seawater, freshwater, compressed air, vacuum, propane, and nitrogen lines are available
• CO2 incubator
• (2) Biological fume hoods
• 10-30 gallon aquaria
• Laboratory glassware

Chemistry Lab (accommodates 16-20 students)
• (2) Chemical fume hoods
• Chemical storage cabinets

Computer Lab
• equipped with networked PCs and Macintosh computers
• Internet access
• Laser and inkjet printers
• Digital imaging/GIS workstation station

- Provides students with the resources they need to enter and analyze data, write reports, or create multimedia presentations. External disk drives, a laptop computer, computer projector, digital camera, and scanner are also available for use by visiting students and groups.
