[ SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS ] [ CONFERENCE FACILITIES ] Johnson Education Center (JEC) The 21,000 sq. ft. Johnson Education Center (JEC) is a full-service, non-residential conference facility located on the campus at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, in Fort Pierce, Florida, USA. The conference facility was designed and built specifically to accommodate scientific, technical and professional groups desiring maximum meeting space flexibility; state-of-the-art equipment and services; and a physical setting that stimulates creative thinking, facilitates learning and enhances productivity. Meeting rooms include an auditorium, a gallery, five seminar rooms, three laboratory-style classrooms, a small conference room and an executive board room. SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution is an ideal site for marine and ocean science related conferences, workshops, and meetings. The Marine Education Division provides planning, organizational, and logistic support for these events. Examples of meetings recently held at Harbor Branch include: 20th Annual Southeastern Phycological Colloquy 1999 Research Vessel Operators Committee meetings Annual meeting of the Florida Association of Bentholgists CONFERENCE FACILITIES The Johnson Education Center is well equipped with a variety of audio-visual and video production facilities which are available for all education programs and conferences at JEC. Betcam SP, 3/4" SP, Hi8 and VHS video formats are supported, and international video standards conversion can be performed at our on site facility. Teaching labs and classrooms are all wired for video and audio. Slide projectors, overhead projectors, VCR's and monitors are always available for teaching sessions at the JEC and groups also have access to a extensive video library on marine topics to supplement their instruction. Videotaping (surface and underwater) and editing can be provided in-house at additional cost. The following audio-visual equipmentis available in the auditorium at itemized costs: Podium with microphone, plus one additional wireless microphone VHS, 3/4" or Hi8 VCR Barco data/video projector Slide projector CD/audio cassette player Copy stand and camera Overhead projector and stand. The following audio-visual equipmentis available in the seminar rooms at itemized costs: VCR and TV monitor Slide projector with wired remote Overhead projector Portable data/video projector PA system. Additional audio-visual equipment may be rented. The JEC's audio-visual specialist can supply a complete list of audio-visual equipment and services available.
