EDUCATION AT HARBOR BRANCH'S WORLD CLASS FACILITY

The Johnson Education Center offers a diverse menu of marine science programs (including field trips, camps, after school programs, courses, internships, and workshops) for students, teachers, and the general public.

All of our student programs are "hands on & feet wet", and designed to teach about the marine environment and promote environmental stewardship. Through activities such as seining, sieving, snorkeling, and boat trips students gain exposure to a variety of local and coastal habitats including: seagrass meadows, mangrove forests, marsh grass stands, intertidal mudflats, sandy shores, high energy beach communities, and sabellarid reefs. Other habitats including the Florida Everglades and the Florida Keys reef tract are less that half a dayıs drive and therefore accessible from Harbor Branch.

While at Harbor Branch students also gained unparalleled exposure to marine science careers, state of the art marine technology, and cutting edge marine research. Through campus tours, guest lectures from staff scientists, and field and laboratory research projects, students walk away with a real-world perspective of career opportunities in marine biology.

Overlooking the water with numerous seminar and conference rooms, a 350-seat auditorium, audio-visual equipment, and catering services, the facility is also an ideal location for scientific and corporate conferences, workshops, and retreats.
