YOUNG CHUL PARK, Ph.D.
ycpark@hboi.edu
Postdoctoral Investigator
Division of Biomedical Marine Research (DBMR)
Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution
Dr. Park is a post-doctoral investigator in the Division of Marine Biomedical Research at
Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution in 2004. He is currently studying bioactive
secondary metabolites from marine derived fungi. Dr. Park earned his Ph. D. in organic
chemistry from the University of South Florida under the supervision of Dr. Bill J.
Baker. His major research backgrounds were based on the isolation of bioactive secondary
metabolites from Antarctic marine organisms using the techniques of organic structure
elucidation with high field FT 1H and13C NMR, 2D NMR (COSY, HMQC, HMBC, NOESY)
spectroscopy, mass spectrometry (Electron Spray Ionization, Fast Atom Bombardment), IR
(Infrared) spectroscopy, UV (Ultraviolet) spectrometry, semi-synthetic derivatization and
synthesis of marine natural products.
