Post-Doctoral Investigator - Natural Products Chemistry Group

Dr. Andrew Lamm is a postdoctoral investigator in chemistry in the Division of Biomedical Marine Research. His focus at Harbor Branch is the isolation and identification of biologically active compounds from marine organisms. Through the use of bioassay guided purification, he also seeks the rapid dereplication of known compounds with HPLC, LCMS and NMR technologies. His personal research interests include enzyme active site modeling, structure elucidation via NMR and exploring new methods for the efficient discovery of new medicines. Dr. Lamm obtained his BSc (Chem. & Biochem.) and PhD (Chemistry) from of the University of the West Indies. His graduate work entailed the biotransformation of bioactive compounds by selected fungi and forays into bioremediation.
